An independent race-fan guide

What does an F1 weekend in Austin actually cost — and how do you do it right?

Attending a Grand Prix is the best and most expensive weekend in motorsport. These guides answer the real questions fans ask — what you'll actually spend, where to sit, how to get in and out of COTA without losing your mind, and what to do on race day — in plain English, one question per page.

The one thing to know first

The short answer: the ticket is the cheapest part of an F1 weekend. Fans report the real money going to hotels, flights, parking, and food — and the people who plan early spend dramatically less than the people who don't. Start with the true-cost breakdown, then work the seating and logistics guides in order.

This site is written for first-timers heading to the United States Grand Prix at Circuit of The Americas (COTA) in Austin. Prices here are reported ranges from fans and public sources, labeled as such — never official prices. Ticket, hotel, and travel prices move fast as the race approaches; always check the official sources linked on each page before you buy.

Start with your situation

Race week 2026: October 23-25 at COTA

The 2026 United States Grand Prix runs Friday October 23 through Sunday October 25 at Circuit of The Americas. This year's Austin weekend is a traditional format - no sprint race (recent Austin weekends had one; 2026 does not). Every time below is Austin local (Central).

2026 United States Grand Prix session schedule (Central Time)
SessionDayTime (CT)
Practice 1Friday, Oct 2312:30 - 1:30 PM
Practice 2Friday, Oct 234:00 - 5:00 PM
Practice 3Saturday, Oct 2412:30 - 1:30 PM
QualifyingSaturday, Oct 244:00 - 5:00 PM
Grand Prix (56 laps)Sunday, Oct 253:00 PM

Gates are published now: COTA has posted the 2026 gate times — Thursday 11:30 AM, Friday 9:00 AM, Saturday 8:30 AM, Sunday 8:30 AM Central, with parking lots opening 30 minutes before gates each day. (COTA's official schedule and Know Before You Go pages, checked October 20, 2026.)

Watching from home (US): 2026 is the first year of Formula 1's US deal with Apple TV - every session streams there instead of ESPN. F1 TV Pro also carries the full weekend. Times confirmed against the official F1 schedule, October 2026.

A championship could be decided here. Kimi Antonelli (Mercedes) arrives in Austin leading the drivers' championship with 340 points — 102 ahead of his teammate George Russell — and this is his first match point. The scenario is exact: if Antonelli wins on Sunday, and Russell finishes 9th or lower, and Lewis Hamilton finishes 5th or lower, Antonelli is world champion with five races to spare. Anything less and the fight rolls on to Mexico. (Standings after the Singapore Grand Prix, per the official F1 classification, checked October 19 and re-confirmed October 20, 2026; the clinch math is the consensus of Sky Sports, Autosport, and RacingNews365 — the 9th-place case is a 365–365 tie Antonelli wins on race wins, since a win Sunday gives him 9 and Russell can reach at most 8. The constructors' title cannot be decided in Austin.)

How this site works

Every guide answers one real question — the kind fans actually type into a search box when planning a trip — with the answer first and the depth after. Prices are always framed as reported ranges with a freshness date, because F1 weekend prices move. Official-fact answers beat sales pitches: check the official links on each page before spending money.

Written by fans, for fans This is an independent fan guide — no ticket seller, hotel, or sponsor is paying for placement here. If something here saves you money or a bad decision, that's the whole point.
Prices are reported ranges, not official prices.

F1 weekend prices change constantly — ticket inventory, hotel rates, and travel costs shift as the race approaches. Treat every number here as a planning range labeled with its source, and verify on the official site before you buy.
